Physical Education and sports play a tremendous role in the physical and mental abilities of young students. It introduces team work, self discipline, sportsmanship, leadership and socialization among the students. ‘Cunnan Sports Centre’ of our college encourages students in sports and games – with high standard infrastructure and facilities.

The NSS unit of our college is one of the oldest among the colleges of University of Madras. The sanctioned strength for 5 units is 500 volunteers with 5 programme officers.
By enrolling in NSS, students develop social service, team spirit, discipline, self confidence, leadership etc.
The NCC unit of our college is one of the oldest among the colleges of University of Madras. The sanctioned strength is 160 cadets of which 30% is reserved for girls.
To develop qualities of leadership, discipline, self confidence, team sprit etc.
Job opportunities:‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate holders are given priority in defence, police and security related jobs. In Police selection – 2 marks are awarded for B and C certificate holders.

The youth Red Cross is one of the most important constituent of the college. It is a group humanitarian movement.
YRC unit of our college was awarded Highest blood donors among co-educational colleges in Tamil Nadu for eight consecutive years from 2007-08.
Youth Resource Centre has been established in our college in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur to provide career guidance and other empowerment programmes to S.C/S.T students as well as youth in and around Pattabiram. It is very much concerned about the development of socially and economically disadvantaged youth.
There is a collection of competitive exams and other useful general books in the centre for reference. The centre conducts youth enrichment programmes related to leadership, career guidance, communication & computing skills.
The college in order to reach the neighbouring community has promoted College Social Responsibility (CSR). Under the aegis of CSR, the following activities have been taken up:
A Worldwide non-profit organisation of students that focuses on the concept of social entrepreneurship. Enactus encourages students to take up community projects and make people more independent. Students set up business for people (vendors / SHGs). It is like teaching a man to fish. The students in turn learn entrepreneurial skills to catch up new ventures.
Participating students form teams on their campus and apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.
Through Regional competitions and National competition, teams are given a forum to present their projects and National Champion team advances to the prestigious world cup.
In addition Enactus create meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange among the participants as well as the placement of students and alumni with Enactus partner companies.
The National Competitions are a showcase of how our students are transforming lives and enabling progress through entrepreneurial action. In July, Enactus teams across India will compete, wherein the quality and impact of their projects will be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. These are dynamic and inspiring events that encourage creativity and reward results, ultimately leading to stronger programs and more lives improved.
--> Enactus India National Competition held on 22nd July 2015 at Delhi and won Second Prize in Unilever Special Competition with Cash Award Rs.1,05,000/-.
