History 

The Department of Telugu has been functioning since the inception of the College. Initially Telugu was offered as second language and as a special subject to the Pre-University students. In the academic year 1979-80, B.A. Telugu Literature was introduced. Dr.(Smt.) P. Seethamma, Dr .M. Suresh, Dr. Chamarthi Madhavi  and Ms. D. Pavithra are the faculty members  from 2015.

ANNUAL LITERARY COMPETITION ON “MALATI CHANDUR”

Conducted Annual Literary   Competitions on “Malati Chandur” on 18.09.2017.  Smt.Jalandhara Chandramohan, Famous Literary writer, Lyricist, Critique was the Chief Guest.

ALL INDIA RADIO PROGRAM

Ten students of Telugu Department had attended and presented a literary programme on “Kadamba Karyakramam” at All India Radio on 19.12.2017 and it was broadcast on 25.12.2017.

TWO DAY INTERNATIONAL LEVEL CONFERENCE IN TELUGU

Conducted a Two Day International Level Conference in Telugu on “Prasara Madhyamalu – Telugu Bhasha Sahithyalu” & “Book Release Function” on 01.02.2018 & 02.02.2018.  36 Professionals presented research articles in the Conference.

2016-17

  • Conducted One Day Workshop on “Ramayana Bharatha, Bhagavatala Prasthyamu” for +2 school students.
  • Conducted student to student teaching skill practice i.e. Computer Basic (words) was taught by B.Vamsi, I B.A. Telugu to the students of Telugu major
  • Conducted Department level competition as part of the Founder’s Day and Seethamma Garu Day celebration.
  • Organised an Inter-Schools and Inter-Collegiate Competitions (Prajna 2017) followed by Alumni Association meeting with Chart exhibition.
  • Conducted Guest Lecture on “Importance of Translation in Media”.  Sri Tankasala Ashok, Kendra Sahithya Academy Winner was the resource person.
  • Valedictory function was held with Principal as the Chief Guest

2015-16

  • The University of Madras and South India Telugu Association have jointly conducted a Continuous poetry recitation in Telugu for Guinness record on 18.07.2015 & 19.07.2015.   Dr.P.Seethamma, Associate Professor & Head, Dr.C.Madhavi, Assistant Professor, Dr.M.Suresh, Assistant Professor & Prof.D.Pavithra, Assistant Professor presented Literary Poems.
  • Conducted National Level workshop on “Manamu-Mana Mathru Bhasha” for  +2 students. 150 students participated.  Dr.Madabhushi Sampath Kumar, HOD of Telugu, University of Madras and Dr.Kasala Nagabhushanam, Retired Professor, Vaishnav College were the Resource Persons.  Dr.C.M.K.Reddy was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function and distributed the certificates
  • Conducted Guest Lecture on Personality Enrichment on “Vyakthithva Vikasamu”.    Smt. Sujatha Ramesh Babu, M.B.A., MD Sport Hospital, Chennai was the Chief Guest
  • Students were participated & won prize in the Inter-collegiate competition conducted by Presidency College
  • Students attended two day International Seminar on “Research – Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” organized by Department of Telugu, University of Madras
  • Students participated in Student Leadership workshop organised by our college
  • Conducted Valedictory function  with Principal as the Chief guest
  • Students have participated in Workshop on “Promoting  writing skills in Telugu” and also presented Literary Articles for an Internet Magazine organised by Amarajeevi Potti Sreeramulu Memorial Society

  • Conducted Oratorical, Essay Writing and Sketching competitions in connection with Founder’s Day celebrations
  • Our final year students participated in a “Bakery Products Making” training programme organized by YRC of our college
  • Organised a Guest Lecture on “Modern Trends in Journalism”. Sri Mannava Gangadhara Prasad,” Reporter, Andhra Jyothi was the Chief Guest
  • Organised  Guest Lecture on “Modern Trends in Folk Literature”
  • Conducted Inter Collegiate Competition – More than 50 students from various city colleges participated in various competitions such as Singing, Quiz, Just-a-minute, Challenge round and Rangoli.
  • Guest Lecture on  “Human Values in Ramayana” by Vidwan S.Dasaratha Rama Reddy
  • Conducted Valedictory function with the Principal as the Chief Guest

2013-14

  • The Department of Telugu conducted Department level competitions in connection with Founder’s Day Celebrations
  • The Department of Telugu organized a Guest Lecture on “Trends in Contemporary News Media”. Dr.Nagasuri Venugopal, Programme Executive, All India Radio delivered lecture.
  • Conducted Department level competitions in connection with Seethamma Garu Day Celebration
  • Organised an Intercollegiate competition (Prajna 2014).
  • Organised a Guest Lecture.  Smt.Josyula Uma spoke on Parady songs in Telugu
